Are the plates people put on your shelves
They pile up like used Cosmopolitan magazines
They are the labels people stick on your box
Whenever you peel one off, another shines through
For your box is layered with labels
Almost as layered as your face caked with makeup
The labels make-up who you’ve become
When your box is covered in another layer of labels, another layer of makeup is applied to your face . It’s the shield you use for protection.
It’s the shield that stops people from cutting their hands on your broken heart
A cake is who you are now
You cover yourself in layers of icing, hoping people will taste only the sweet and not the bitterness that reproduces inside of you
Your shelves are growing weak
Your arms are growing limp
Limp from carrying piles of plates
Plates that you wish someone could come take
Take, and break
People call you by your past, but God calls you by your name.
People can put labels on you all day long. But people putting a label on your box, does not change what’s inside of it.
God does not define us by our past, he sees the person he created in the beginning. He see’s our whole potential.
Don’t be tied down to labels and chains people put on you. If you’re tied down to them, you’ll never be able to reach the place you were destined to go.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.
